Tuna Melt is a classic comfort food sandwich made with creamy tuna salad, melted cheese, and crispy golden toasted bread. Perfect for lunch, dinner, or a quick satisfying meal.

  • 2 cans (5 ounces each) tuna, drained
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup finely diced celery
  • 2 tablespoons finely diced red onion
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 slices sourdough bread
  • 8 slices cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • Tomato slices (optional)

Instructions

  1. Drain tuna thoroughly and place in a mixing bowl.
  2. Add mayonnaise, celery, red onion, Dijon mustard, and black pepper.
  3. Mix until well combined.
  4. Butter one side of each bread slice.
  5. Place four bread slices butter-side down on a work surface.
  6. Add a slice of cheese to each piece of bread.
  7. Divide tuna mixture evenly among the sandwiches.
  8. Add another slice of cheese on top of the tuna.
  9. Top with remaining bread slices, butter-side up.
  10. Cook sandwiches in a skillet over medium heat until golden brown.
  11. Flip carefully and cook the second side until golden and cheese is melted.
  12. Serve immediately.

  • Drain tuna thoroughly to avoid soggy sandwiches.
  • Sourdough bread provides excellent texture.
  • Use freshly grated cheese for better melting.
  • Cook over medium heat to prevent burning.
