  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whipped topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking pan.
  2. Wash, hull, and slice the strawberries, then mix with 1/4 cup sugar and set aside for 20–30 minutes.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, cream butter and remaining sugar until light and fluffy.
  5. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in vanilla extract.
  6. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk, and mix until just combined.
  7. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the cake to cool completely.
  9. Cut the cake into slices, layer with strawberries and their juices, and top with whipped topping.
