Maple Apple Cider is a warm, spiced drink made with apple cider, pure maple syrup, and cozy fall spices. Perfect for chilly days, family gatherings, or festive parties, this comforting beverage can be served hot, cold, or spiked for adult versions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6-8 cups apple cider (unfiltered)
  • 1/4 to 1/3 cup pure maple syrup
  • 2-3 cinnamon sticks
  • 4-6 whole cloves
  • 1-2 star anise (optional)
  • Peel from 1 orange
  • Pinch of nutmeg (grated or whole)
  • Optional: fresh ginger slices, cardamom pods, vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large pot or slow cooker, pour in the apple cider.
  2. Add cinnamon sticks, cloves, orange peel, and any optional spices.
  3. Stir in the maple syrup.
  4. Heat gently over low heat for 20-30 minutes or cook on low in the crockpot for 2-3 hours. Do not boil.
  5. Strain out the solids using a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth.
  6. Serve warm in mugs or chill and serve over ice with sparkling water for a fizzy version.
  7. Garnish with apple slices, cinnamon sticks, or orange peel.

Notes

  • Use unfiltered apple cider for the best flavor.
  • Adjust the maple syrup based on your sweetness preference.
  • Make a large batch ahead and store in the fridge for up to 7 days.
  • Freeze leftovers in ice cube trays for use in fall cocktails or smoothies.
  • Add bourbon or rum for a spiked version.
