A refreshing summer drink that combines the earthy flavor of matcha with the tropical sweetness of mango, layered beautifully over ice for a stunning and energizing treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 small mango, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 1 teaspoon matcha powder (ceremonial grade)
  • 2 oz hot water
  • 1 teaspoon liquid sweetener (honey or agave)
  • 6 oz milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Peel and cut mango into chunks. Blend until completely smooth to make the mango puree. Set aside.
  2. Sift 1 teaspoon of matcha powder into a small bowl. Add 2 oz of hot water and whisk until foamy (15–20 seconds).
  3. Stir in 1 teaspoon of sweetener into the matcha mixture.
  4. Pour the mango puree into a tall glass, filling about ¼ of the glass.
  5. Add a handful of ice over the mango layer.
  6. Slowly pour milk over the ice until the glass is nearly full.
  7. Gently pour the matcha shot over the back of a spoon onto the milk to create layers.
  8. Stir before drinking or enjoy layered.

Notes

  • Use ripe mangoes for better sweetness and color.
  • Frozen mango can be used but should be thawed fully.
  • Oat milk and almond milk work great for dairy-free versions.
  • Sift matcha to prevent clumps and whisk using a zigzag motion.
  • Use a clear glass to showcase the layered effect.
