Firecracker Salmon is a bold, sweet, and spicy seafood dish featuring tender salmon fillets coated in a rich, tangy glaze made with hot sauce, garlic, and brown sugar for an irresistible flavor.

  • 4 salmon fillets (6 oz each, skin-on or skinless)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/3 cup hot sauce (such as Frank’s RedHot)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Optional: 1 tsp grated ginger
  • Optional: 1 tbsp honey for extra sweetness
  • Optional garnish: chopped green onions, sesame seeds, lime wedges

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking dish with parchment paper or foil.
  2. Pat salmon fillets dry with paper towels and season with salt and pepper.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together hot sauce, brown sugar, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, garlic, and red pepper flakes until smooth.
  4. Place salmon in the baking dish and pour the sauce evenly over the fillets.
  5. Let the salmon marinate for 20–30 minutes for deeper flavor.
  6. Bake for 12–15 minutes, depending on thickness, until the salmon flakes easily with a fork.
  7. During the last 3–5 minutes, spoon extra sauce over the salmon to create a sticky glaze.
  8. Optional: Broil for 1–2 minutes to caramelize the top slightly.
  9. Remove from oven, garnish with green onions or sesame seeds, and serve immediately.

  • Do not overcook salmon; it should be tender and flaky.
  • Adjust spice level by reducing hot sauce or red pepper flakes.
  • For thicker sauce, simmer it for a few minutes before using.
  • Use fresh salmon for best flavor, but frozen works if thawed properly.
  • Marinate longer for deeper flavor, up to 1 hour if desired.
