  • 4 cups green cabbage, chopped
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for greasing dish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking dish with olive oil.
  2. Chop the green cabbage into small bite-sized pieces and finely dice the onion.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, chopped cabbage, diced onion, eggs, breadcrumbs, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Mix gently until all ingredients are evenly incorporated without overmixing.
  5. Press the mixture firmly and evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  6. Bake for 35–45 minutes, or until fully cooked and the top is golden brown.
  7. For extra crispiness, broil for an additional 3–5 minutes while watching carefully.
  8. Remove from oven, let rest for 5–10 minutes, slice, and serve warm.

  • To avoid excess moisture, lightly salt the chopped cabbage and let it sit for 10 minutes, then squeeze out excess liquid before mixing.
  • You may substitute ground turkey for a lighter version.
  • For a low-carb option, replace breadcrumbs with almond flour.
