Cherry Cinnamon Rolls with Homemade Filling are soft, fluffy rolls made with sweet yeast dough, warm cinnamon sugar, and a rich homemade cherry filling, baked until golden and topped with a light glaze.

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups cherries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1/3 cup sugar (for cherry filling)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 23 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk with a pinch of sugar and let it become foamy.
  2. Add sugar, melted butter, egg, salt, and flour, then knead until smooth dough forms.
  3. Cover and let the dough rise until doubled in size.
  4. In a saucepan, cook cherries, sugar, lemon juice, and cornstarch until thickened, then cool.
  5. Roll dough into a rectangle and spread softened butter over it.
  6. Sprinkle evenly with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  7. Spread cooled cherry filling over the dough.
  8. Roll tightly into a log and slice into equal rolls.
  9. Arrange rolls in a greased baking dish and let rise again.
  10. Bake at 350°F for 25–30 minutes until golden.
  11. Mix powdered sugar and milk to make glaze and drizzle over warm rolls.

Notes

  • Let the cherry filling cool fully before spreading.
  • Do not overbake to keep rolls soft.
  • Roll dough tightly for defined swirls.
  • Glaze can be adjusted thicker or thinner to taste.
