Cherries in the Snow is a no-bake, vintage dessert made with angel food cake, a creamy sweetened cream cheese filling, and cherry pie topping. It’s light, fluffy, and perfect for holidays, potlucks, and family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup 2% milk
  • 12 ounces Cool Whip, thawed
  • 1 (9-inch) pre-baked angel food cake
  • 2 cans (21 ounces each) cherry pie filling

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, use a hand mixer to beat the cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy.
  2. Add 1/4 cup of milk, mix until smooth, then add the remaining 1/4 cup and mix again.
  3. Gently fold in the Cool Whip until well incorporated.
  4. Tear the angel food cake into bite-sized pieces and fold into the cream mixture.
  5. Spread the mixture evenly into a 9×13-inch glass baking dish.
  6. Top with the cherry pie filling, spreading it evenly over the cream layer.
  7. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving, or overnight for best results.

Notes

  • Use full-fat cream cheese for best texture.
  • Store-bought or homemade angel food cake can be used.
  • Use “More Fruit” pie filling for a richer cherry layer.
  • Store leftovers covered in the fridge for up to 4 days.
  • Can be layered in a trifle dish or individual cups for presentation.
