Caramel apple slices are a quick, bite-sized twist on the classic caramel apple, featuring crisp apple wedges dipped in silky caramel and topped with a variety of delicious toppings—perfect for parties, holidays, or a fun family treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji)
  • 12 oz (340 g) caramel candies or homemade caramel
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream (for melting caramel)
  • 1/4 cup chopped peanuts (optional)
  • 1/4 cup crushed pretzels (optional)
  • 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips (optional)
  • 1/4 cup crushed Oreos (optional)
  • 1/4 cup festive sprinkles (optional)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice (to prevent browning)

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry apples thoroughly to remove any wax coating.
  2. Cut each apple into 6–8 wedges and insert popsicle sticks or skewers into each slice.
  3. If using lemon juice, dip apple slices briefly in a water-and-lemon-juice bath to prevent browning. Pat dry completely.
  4. In a saucepan, melt caramel candies with heavy cream over medium-low heat until smooth, stirring constantly. Avoid boiling.
  5. Tilt the caramel bowl for deeper dipping and submerge each apple slice, twisting gently to remove excess caramel.
  6. Place dipped slices on a parchment-lined tray and immediately sprinkle with desired toppings.
  7. Allow caramel to set for at least 15 minutes at room temperature before serving.
  8. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.

Notes

  • Use firm, crisp apples for the best texture.
  • Dry apples thoroughly before dipping to ensure caramel sticks.
  • Homemade caramel offers richer flavor, but store-bought is a quick option.
  • For softer caramel, add extra cream during melting.
  • Customize toppings for seasonal or themed events.
