Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box brownie mix (plain, no add-ins)
  • 2 large eggs (or as per brownie mix instructions)
  • 1/2 cup oil (or as per brownie mix instructions)
  • 3 tablespoons water (or as per brownie mix instructions)
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons heavy cream (more if needed)
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Green food coloring
  • Holiday sprinkles and candy stars for decoration
  • Non-stick spray (for muffin tin)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a mini muffin pan well with non-stick spray.
  2. Prepare brownie batter as instructed on the box. Fill each muffin cavity 2/3 full with batter.
  3. Bake for 15–17 minutes until edges are firm and center is slightly soft.
  4. Remove from oven and immediately use the back of a teaspoon to create an indentation in the center of each brownie.
  5. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely (about 30 more minutes).
  6. In a mixing bowl, beat softened butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar and cream, alternating between the two.
  7. Add vanilla extract, salt, and green food coloring. Beat on high speed for 2 minutes until fluffy.
  8. Fill a piping bag with the frosting and pipe it onto cooled brownie cups in a swirling motion to form tree shapes.
  9. Immediately decorate each tree with sprinkles and a candy star before the frosting sets.
  10. Store in a single layer in an airtight container at room temperature or in the fridge for up to 5 days.

Notes

  • Use a mini muffin tin for best shape and size.
  • Frosting consistency can be adjusted with more cream (thinner) or powdered sugar (thicker).
  • Decorate each brownie immediately after piping to ensure sprinkles stick.
  • You can prepare brownie bases a day ahead and frost just before serving.
