Best Christmas Cranberry Meatballs are a sweet and savory holiday appetizer made with tender meatballs coated in a tangy cranberry glaze, perfect for Christmas gatherings and easy to prepare in a slow cooker or on the stovetop.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 26 ounces frozen bite-size meatballs (or homemade)
  • 14 ounces whole cranberry sauce (can substitute grape jelly)
  • 12 ounces Heinz chili sauce
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
  • Fresh rosemary or parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place the frozen meatballs into a slow cooker set on low heat. If using homemade meatballs, brown them in a skillet first before transferring.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together cranberry sauce, chili sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar until well combined.
  3. Pour the sauce over the meatballs, ensuring all are evenly coated.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 4 hours, stirring occasionally to keep the sauce coating the meatballs.
  5. Switch to the “warm” setting when ready to serve and garnish with fresh rosemary or parsley if desired.
  6. For a quick stovetop version, simmer meatballs and sauce in a large skillet over medium heat for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Notes

  • Homemade cranberry sauce can be used for a fresher taste.
  • Turkey or pork meatballs can replace beef for a lighter version.
  • To add heat, stir in diced jalapeños or a pinch of cayenne pepper.
  • Make up to 2 days ahead and reheat before serving.
  • Freeze for up to 3 months in an airtight container.
