This baked bacon cheese dip is a hot, creamy, and cheesy appetizer made with crispy bacon, a blend of three cheeses, and zesty spices—all baked to perfection in a crusty bread bowl. Perfect for parties, game days, and holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large bread bowl (1216 oz, sourdough recommended)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 8 oz sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 4 oz pepper jack cheese, shredded
  • 4 oz mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 8 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 4 green onions, chopped
  • 1½ tbsp hot sauce (e.g., Tabasco)
  • ½ tsp ground black pepper
  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Olive oil (for brushing bread bowl)
  • Salt and pepper to taste (for bread bowl)
  • Optional dippers: pretzels, celery sticks, carrot sticks

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Using a sharp knife, slice off the top of the bread bowl and scoop out the inside, leaving about 1 inch around the edges. Set aside.
  3. Brush the inside of the bread bowl with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Set on a baking sheet.
  4. In a large bowl, add softened cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise. Blend using a hand mixer until smooth.
  5. Add shredded cheeses, crumbled bacon, chopped green onions, hot sauce, pepper, red pepper flakes, onion powder, and garlic powder. Stir until well combined.
  6. Scoop the cheese mixture into the prepared bread bowl.
  7. Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly. For a cheesy topping, sprinkle extra cheese during the last 10–15 minutes of baking.
  8. Remove from oven and serve immediately with desired dippers.

Notes

  • For best results, use freshly grated cheese for better melt and flavor.
  • Do not store the bread bowl; remove leftovers and store dip separately.
  • Make ahead tip: Mix the dip and refrigerate up to 24 hours before baking.
  • Adjust spice level by adding or omitting hot sauce and pepper flakes.
  • To keep warm at parties, transfer baked dip to a slow cooker on ‘warm’.
