  • 2 cups boiling water (divided)
  • 1 tub (8 oz) whipped topping
  • 1/2 cup sliced strawberries (optional)
  • 1/2 cup blueberries (optional)
  • Patriotic sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. Prepare cake batter using cake mix, eggs, oil, and water. Pour into pan and bake for 25–30 minutes.
  3. Allow cake to cool for about 15 minutes.
  4. Poke holes evenly across the cake using a wooden spoon handle.
  5. Prepare red and blue gelatin separately with boiling water and let cool slightly.
  6. Pour gelatin into alternating holes throughout the cake.
  7. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours until gelatin is set.
  8. Spread whipped topping evenly over the cake.
