These Homemade Turtles Candy are a classic mix of rich chocolate, buttery caramel, and crunchy pecans. This easy no-bake treat is perfect for holidays, gifts, or anytime cravings. Sweet, salty, and totally irresistible!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups pecan halves
  • 2530 soft caramels (such as Kraft)
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream (or milk)
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips or melting wafers
  • Sea salt for sprinkling (optional)
  • Optional toppings: white chocolate drizzle, chopped nuts, or pretzels

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Arrange pecans on a baking sheet and toast for 5–7 minutes until fragrant. Let cool completely.
  2. Line another baking sheet with parchment paper. Arrange 3–4 pecans together in small clusters to form the ‘turtle’ base.
  3. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt caramels with heavy cream in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
  4. Spoon about 1 teaspoon of caramel over each pecan cluster, letting it settle and cool for about 10 minutes.
  5. Melt chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl using 20–30 second intervals, stirring between each until smooth.
  6. Spoon melted chocolate over each caramel cluster, covering it completely. Optionally, drizzle with white chocolate or sprinkle sea salt on top.
  7. Refrigerate for 30 minutes or until chocolate hardens. Store in an airtight container.

Notes

  • Use fresh pecans for the best flavor — stale nuts can affect taste and texture.
  • Don’t overheat the caramel; it should be smooth, not boiling.
  • Use high-quality chocolate for a glossy, rich finish.
  • For extra crunch, try a pretzel base instead of plain pecans.
  • Store candies at room temperature for 2 weeks or refrigerate for 1 month.
