This Thousand Island Dressing Recipe is a creamy, tangy, and slightly sweet homemade dressing made with mayonnaise, ketchup, and relish, perfect for salads, burgers, and sandwiches.

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons sweet pickle relish
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar or lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon finely minced onion

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together mayonnaise and ketchup until smooth.
  2. Add sweet pickle relish and mix thoroughly.
  3. Stir in vinegar or lemon juice, sugar, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Whisk until fully combined and creamy.
  5. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
  6. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving for best flavor.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, replace half of the mayonnaise with Greek yogurt.
  • Adjust sweetness by adding more or less sugar.
  • If too thick, add 1–2 teaspoons of water or lemon juice.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 7 days.
  • Freezing is not recommended as the texture may separate.
