Soft, fluffy, and slightly sweet Texas Roadhouse Rolls made at home with a copycat recipe, served best with cinnamon honey butter.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/2 cups bread flour
  • 4 1/2 teaspoons instant yeast (2 envelopes)
  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons fine sea salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons salted butter, melted (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a stand mixer bowl, whisk together 2 cups of bread flour and the yeast.
  2. In a saucepan, combine water, milk, honey, and butter; heat until warm (not hot).
  3. With the mixer running on low, pour the warm mixture into the flour. Mix for 2 minutes.
  4. Add the remaining bread flour, salt, and eggs. Mix on low until combined.
  5. Gradually add all-purpose flour, one cup at a time, until the dough pulls from the bowl.
  6. Transfer dough to a floured surface and knead for 5–8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  7. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour until doubled in size.
  8. Roll out dough to 1/2-inch thickness and cut into 24 squares.
  9. Place rolls on buttered baking sheets, 1.5 inches apart. Let rise for another 30 minutes.
  10. Preheat oven to 350°F. Bake for 15–18 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Brush warm rolls with melted butter and serve with cinnamon honey butter.

Notes

  • Do not substitute active dry yeast unless you proof it first.
  • Substitute all-purpose flour for bread flour if needed, but texture will be softer.
  • Kneading is crucial for texture; avoid over-flouring the dough.
  • Rolls can be frozen after baking and reheated later.
  • Store cinnamon honey butter in the fridge for up to 1 week.
