A warm, non-alcoholic tart cherry mulled drink infused with whole spices and citrus—perfect for holidays, packed with antioxidants, and ready in just 20 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1 quart tart cherry juice (100% juice, not from concentrate)
  • 2 tablespoons orange peel (orange part only, no white pith)
  • 2 whole cinnamon sticks
  • 5 whole cloves
  • 2 whole star anise
  • 1/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 3 oz whiskey or spiced rum (optional, 1 oz per serving)
  • Optional garnishes: orange rounds, cinnamon sticks, whole spices

Instructions

  1. Add tart cherry juice, orange peel, cinnamon sticks, cloves, star anise, and orange juice to a large saucepan.
  2. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
  3. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 15–20 minutes to let the flavors develop.
  4. Remove from heat and strain through a fine mesh strainer.
  5. If using, stir in whiskey or spiced rum.
  6. Serve warm with optional garnishes like orange rounds or cinnamon sticks.
