Reese’s Peanut Butter Trifle is a decadent, make-ahead layered dessert featuring brownies, creamy peanut butter pudding, Cool Whip, and chopped Reese’s Cups—perfect for parties and chocolate-peanut butter lovers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box (18.2 oz) brownie mix (plus ingredients to prepare)
  • 2 packages (14 oz each) Reese’s Mini Peanut Butter Cups
  • 4 cups 2% or whole milk
  • 2 packages (5.1 oz each) instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter (not natural)
  • 4 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 16 oz Cool Whip, thawed

Instructions

  1. Prepare the brownie mix according to package directions. Let it cool completely and cut into ¾-inch pieces.
  2. Cut Reese’s Cups in half and reserve ⅓ cup for garnish.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the milk and pudding mix for 2 minutes.
  4. Add peanut butter and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
  5. Fold in 1½ cartons of Cool Whip into the pudding mixture.
  6. In a trifle dish, layer one-third of the brownies on the bottom.
  7. Add one-third of the chopped Reese’s Cups.
  8. Spoon one-third of the pudding mixture over the candy layer.
  9. Repeat the layers two more times.
  10. Top with remaining Cool Whip and garnish with reserved Reese’s Cups.
  11. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes

  • A glass trifle bowl makes the dessert visually appealing by showing off the layers.
  • Make the brownies and pudding a day ahead to save time during assembly.
  • Leave the garnish off until just before serving for the best presentation.
  • Store leftovers covered in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Do not freeze as the custard texture may change.
