Raw Meat Rice Krispies are a creepy, sweet Halloween treat made with red velvet cake mix and marshmallows that look like raw ground meat but taste like marshmallow heaven.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 10.5 oz mini marshmallows
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup red velvet cake mix
  • 6 cups crispy rice cereal
  • ½ teaspoon red food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large pot over medium-low heat, melt the butter and mini marshmallows, stirring until smooth.
  2. Add in the vanilla extract and red velvet cake mix, stirring until fully combined. Add red food coloring if desired for deeper color.
  3. Remove from heat and gently fold in the rice cereal until evenly coated.
  4. Scoop the mixture onto foam trays and shape into meat-like forms—mounds, patties, or even brain shapes.
  5. Wrap each tray in clear plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Use low heat to prevent hardening the mixture.
  • Strawberry syrup can be drizzled for a gory effect, but use sparingly to avoid sogginess.
  • You can use large marshmallows, but minis melt more evenly.
  • To store longer, freeze wrapped treats for up to 6 weeks and thaw at room temperature.
  • Printable butcher-style labels add a fun touch for presentation.
