Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes are a savory fusion of two American classics made in the slow cooker—featuring ground beef, onions, bell peppers, and melty provolone cheese on soft buns. Perfect for easy weeknight dinners or game day gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 small green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 6 slices provolone cheese or 1 1/2 cups shredded
  • Buns for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook ground beef, onions, and bell pepper until the beef is browned and vegetables are soft. Drain grease.
  2. Transfer the mixture to a slow cooker.
  3. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Pour into the slow cooker and stir to combine.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 4–6 hours.
  5. Remove lid, add provolone cheese on top, and cover again until cheese melts (about 5 minutes).
  6. Stir the cheese into the meat mixture until fully combined.
  7. Scoop onto sandwich buns and serve hot.

Notes

  • Can substitute ground beef with turkey or chicken.
  • Use frozen chopped veggies to save prep time.
  • Make it a freezer meal by preparing and freezing the mixture in advance.
  • Serve over lettuce wraps or cauliflower rice for a low-carb option.
  • Toast buns lightly to prevent sogginess.
