Spicy Paneer Bhurji is a delicious, easy to make and quick to prepare paneer curry. Paneer Bhurji is inspired by a famous recipe called Anda Bhurji which is similar in taste and texture but is a vegetarian dish and is made with paneer

In this, along with grated cheese, onions, tomatoes, capsicum and Indian spices are also added. So today we will learn how to make this vegetable with the help of this easy recipe.


250 grams cottage cheese, grated

1 tsp ginger, grated

4-5 garlic cloves, crushed

1 green chili finely chopped

2 medium onions, finely chopped

1 large tomato, finely chopped

1 medium capsicum, finely chopped

1/4 tsp garam masala powder

1/4 tsp turmeric powder

1/2 tsp red chili powder

1 tsp coriander powder

2 tbsp milk

1 tsp lemon juice

1½ tbsp oil

2 tbsp finely chopped coriander leaves

Method (Paneer Bhurji)

Heat oil in a pan on medium heat. Put cumin in it. When cumin seeds start spluttering, add grated ginger, ground garlic and finely chopped green chilies and fry for a minute.

Add finely chopped onion and fry till it turns light brown in color (it will take 2-3 minutes).

Add finely chopped tomatoes and capsicum. Cook the tomatoes till they become soft, it will take about 2 -3 minutes.

Add garam masala powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder and salt and mix well.Pour milk.

Mix the mixture well and let it cook for 1 minute.

Add grated paneer and lemon juice and mix well.

Let the mixture cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally with a spoon to prevent the mixture from sticking.

Turn off the flame and take out the prepared paneer bhurji in a serving bowl and garnish with green coriander and serve with paratha or roti.

Suggestions and Variations

Use a non-stick pan or a heavy bottomed pan (or wok) to prevent the vegetable from burning and sticking.

Tofu can be used instead of paneer in this easy recipe.

To enhance the taste of this vegetable, add tsp kasoori methi in step-6.



Serving Methods

This vegetable can be served with naan, paratha, chapati and roomali roti in lunch or evening meal. This vegetable can be served as a side dish along with the main meal.
