These crispy Orange Chicken Bites are coated in a sweet, tangy homemade orange marmalade sauce and come together in just 15 minutes. A perfect weeknight dinner or party appetizer that’s better than takeout.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 to 5 cups frozen chicken nuggets
  • 1 cup orange marmalade
  • 3/4 cup barbecue sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon garlic (minced or paste)
  • Optional: 1/2 teaspoon ginger paste
  • Optional: 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Optional: 1/4 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • Optional: 1–2 teaspoons sesame oil

Instructions

  1. Cook the chicken nuggets according to package directions, preferably in an oven or air fryer for crispiness.
  2. While the chicken is cooking, combine orange marmalade, barbecue sauce, soy sauce, and orange juice in a bowl or measuring cup.
  3. Add optional ingredients like garlic, ginger, or sesame oil if desired. Mix well.
  4. Microwave the sauce for about 1 minute or heat on stovetop until warm.
  5. Place cooked chicken in a large bowl. Pour the warm sauce over the chicken and toss until evenly coated.
  6. Serve immediately with rice, noodles, or vegetable sides.

Notes

  • Air frying yields the crispiest results for chicken bites.
  • Store sauce and chicken separately to retain crispiness.
  • Use fresh orange juice and quality marmalade for best flavor.
  • Double the sauce if you like extra for drizzling over rice or veggies.
  • This sauce can also be used on shrimp, tofu, or as a dipping sauce.
