This Homemade Spiced Honey Pear Jam combines ripe pears, warm holiday spices, and natural honey for a cozy, delicious spread perfect for gifting or enjoying on toast, cheese boards, and more.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 89 medium ripe pears, peeled and cubed
  • 1 lemon or 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1 ½ cups honey (preferably raw)
  • 6 tablespoons fruit pectin powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves

Instructions

  1. Peel, core, and cube the pears into small chunks.
  2. Place pears in a large pot. Add lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and cloves. Stir to combine and heat on medium.
  3. Once the mixture begins to bubble, sprinkle in the fruit pectin. Stir for about 1 minute.
  4. Add honey and bring to a steady boil. Continue boiling for 5–8 minutes until thickened.
  5. Test jam consistency with the chilled plate method. If it wrinkles when pushed, it’s ready.
  6. Fill sterilized jars with the hot jam, leaving ¼ inch headspace.
  7. Seal jars and process in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes (adjust for altitude if needed).
  8. Remove jars, cool completely, and let set for 24–48 hours before serving or gifting.

Notes

  • Use Bartlett or Anjou pears for best results.
  • Ensure jars are fully sterilized before filling to avoid contamination.
  • The jam may appear runny at first but will set within 24–48 hours.
  • Store sealed jars in a cool, dark place for up to 1 year.
  • Once opened, refrigerate and consume within 3–4 weeks.
