Festive Crinkle Cookies are colorful, crackled holiday treats made with white cake mix, red and green food coloring, and a powdered sugar coating. They’re soft, chewy, and perfect for Christmas gifting or cookie exchanges.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box White Cake Mix (13.25 oz)
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1/3 cup Olive Oil
  • 1/3 cup Powdered Sugar
  • Red Food Coloring (Wilton Red-Red recommended)
  • Green Food Coloring (Wilton Kelly Green recommended)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine white cake mix, eggs, and olive oil until dough forms.
  3. Divide the dough equally into two bowls. Add red food coloring to one and green to the other. Mix until desired color is reached.
  4. Use a small cookie scoop (about 1.5 tbsp) to form dough balls.
  5. Roll each dough ball generously in powdered sugar.
  6. Place cookies on the prepared baking sheet, spacing 1.5 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 9–12 minutes until the edges are set and tops are crinkled.
  8. Cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  9. Serve or store in an airtight container.

Notes

  • Chill the dough before rolling to make it easier to handle.
  • Use gel-based food coloring for vibrant holiday colors.
  • Cookies can be frozen before or after baking for up to 2 months.
  • For gluten-free cookies, substitute with a GF cake mix and adjust oil to 1/2 cup.
  • Store baked cookies in an airtight container with a slice of bread to retain softness.
