Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 3 oz fancy crab meat, drained and crumbled
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1.5 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 (12 oz) package wonton wrappers
  • 1 egg, whisked with a splash of water (for egg wash)
  • 1 quart canola oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Combine all filling ingredients (cream cheese, crab meat, green onions, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, sugar) in a medium bowl.
  2. Place 1 teaspoon of filling in the center of each wonton wrapper.
  3. Moisten the edges with egg wash. Fold into a triangle and seal tightly, removing all air pockets.
  4. Bring left and right corners up to meet and seal at the top.
  5. Repeat the process for all wrappers.
  6. To Fry: Heat oil in a deep fryer or Dutch oven to just under 350°F. Fry 4–5 wontons at a time for 45 seconds to 1 minute until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  7. To Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F. Preheat baking sheet for 5 minutes. Place rangoons on the sheet, spray with cooking spray, and bake for 10–12 minutes or until golden.
  8. To Air Fry: Brush each wonton with oil and air fry at 370°F for 7–8 minutes until crisp.

Notes

  • Keep wonton wrappers covered with a damp towel to prevent drying out.
  • Flash freeze folded rangoons on a tray before storing them in freezer bags.
  • Cook directly from frozen when frying; let thaw for 10 minutes if baking or air frying.
  • Do not overfill wrappers to prevent leakage and bursting.
  • Use a thermometer to monitor oil temperature when frying for consistent crispiness.
