Cinnamon Apple Bourbon Smash is a cozy fall cocktail made with spiced cinnamon syrup, bourbon, citrus, apple butter, and ginger beer. It’s perfect for holiday gatherings or chilly evenings and can be made as a mocktail or party punch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 oz (2 tbsp) spicy cinnamon syrup
  • 1.5 oz (3 tbsp) bourbon
  • 1 oz (2 tbsp) lemon or grapefruit juice
  • 1 tbsp apple butter
  • 12 dashes orange bitters
  • Ginger beer, for topping
  • Optional garnish: Honeycrisp apple slices, pomegranate arils, cinnamon stick (smoked)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup maple syrup, 2 cinnamon sticks, and 1-inch sliced fresh ginger. Bring to a boil for 2–3 minutes.
  2. Remove from heat, stir in 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper, and let cool. Strain into a jar for syrup use.
  3. In a cocktail shaker, add 1 oz cinnamon syrup, 1.5 oz bourbon, 1 oz lemon or grapefruit juice, 1 tbsp apple butter, and 1–2 dashes bitters.
  4. Add ice and shake well. Strain into a glass over fresh ice.
  5. Top with ginger beer.
  6. Garnish with apple slices, pomegranate arils, and a smoking cinnamon stick, if desired.

Notes

  • Use ginger ale instead of ginger beer for a milder flavor.
  • Substitute apple cider and vanilla extract for a non-alcoholic version.
  • Make syrup ahead and refrigerate for up to one week.
  • Ideal bourbon choices include Bulleit, Four Roses, or Maker’s Mark.
  • Can be scaled up to serve as punch for larger groups.
