  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • Vegetable or canola oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil.
  2. Reduce heat and add flour all at once, stirring until a smooth dough forms and pulls away from the pan.
  3. Remove from heat and let cool slightly, then add eggs one at a time, mixing until smooth.
  4. Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Transfer dough to a piping bag and pipe short pieces into the hot oil, cutting with scissors.
  6. Fry in batches until golden brown, turning as needed.
  7. Remove and drain briefly on paper towels.
  8. Mix sugar and cinnamon together and toss warm churro bites until coated.

  • Toss churros in cinnamon sugar while still warm for best coating.
