Caramel Apple Dessert Cups are a no-bake fall treat layered with a vanilla wafer crust, salted caramel mousse, and cinnamon-spiced apple topping. Perfect for potlucks, parties, or cozy nights in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup vanilla wafer crumbs or graham cracker crumbs
  • 3 tablespoons melted unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar (optional)
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup salted caramel sauce
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large apples (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith), peeled and diced
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Mix crushed cookies, melted butter, and optional sugar until it resembles wet sand.
  2. Press 1 tablespoon of the mixture into the base of each dessert cup. Chill.
  3. Whip the heavy cream to stiff peaks and set aside.
  4. In another bowl, beat cream cheese, caramel sauce, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Fold the whipped cream into the caramel mixture to form a mousse.
  6. Spoon or pipe the mousse into the cups over the crust layer.
  7. In a skillet, melt butter and sauté diced apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt for 5 minutes.
  8. Stir in lemon juice and let apples cool slightly.
  9. Top each mousse layer with the apple topping.
  10. Optional: Drizzle with extra caramel or a dollop of whipped cream.
  11. Cover and chill cups for at least 1 hour before serving.

Notes

  • Use Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples for best texture.
  • Chill crust before layering to avoid sogginess.
  • Prepare up to 24 hours in advance and refrigerate.
  • Not freezer-friendly due to mousse and apple texture changes.
  • For a lighter version, use vanilla Greek yogurt in place of mousse.
