Crispy, caramelized Brussels sprouts sautéed in bacon fat, finished with maple syrup for a sweet-savory twist—perfect as a holiday or weeknight side dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 slices bacon
  • lbs Brussels sprouts, ends trimmed and halved
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 12 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • Kosher salt and black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large cast iron skillet, cook the bacon over medium-high heat until crispy. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate, but do not discard the bacon grease.
  2. Add butter to the same skillet and melt over medium-high heat.
  3. Place halved Brussels sprouts cut-side down into the skillet and sauté for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden and tender.
  4. Chop the cooked bacon and return it to the skillet with the sprouts.
  5. Drizzle with maple syrup and toss everything together. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Serve immediately while hot and crispy.

Notes

  • Use a cast iron skillet for best searing results.
  • Do not overcrowd the pan to avoid steaming the sprouts.
  • Drizzle maple syrup just before serving to avoid burning.
  • Reheat leftovers in a skillet or air fryer for best texture.
