  • 2 cups mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, or raspberries)
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

  2. Spread half of the bread cubes evenly in the dish.
  3. Scatter cream cheese pieces and half of the berries over the bread.
  4. Top with remaining bread cubes and berries.
  5. In a bowl, whisk eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, and salt until smooth.
  6. Pour custard evenly over the bread mixture.
  7. Gently press bread down to absorb the liquid.
  8. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  9. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  10. Bake uncovered for 45–50 minutes until set and lightly golden.
  11. Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Use slightly stale bread for best texture.
  • Frozen berries can be used straight from the freezer.
  • Cover loosely with foil if the top browns too quickly.
