Apple pie baked beans are a sweet and smoky twist on a classic comfort food, made in the slow cooker with baked beans, apple pie filling, bacon, barbecue sauce, and warm spices. Perfect for BBQs, holidays, or fall dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 16 oz bacon, sliced, cooked and drained
  • 2 (28 oz) cans Homestyle Bush’s Baked Beans
  • 2 (21 oz) cans apple pie filling
  • 1/2 cup diced white onion
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce (e.g., Sweet Baby Ray’s Original)
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Cook the bacon until crispy, then drain and set aside.
  2. In a slow cooker, add baked beans, apple pie filling, diced onion, barbecue sauce, brown sugar, and the cooked bacon.
  3. Gently stir all ingredients until well combined.
  4. Cover and cook on LOW for 5 hours.
  5. Serve warm as a side dish or main meal accompaniment.

Notes

  • Use a barbecue sauce that isn’t too smoky or vinegary for balanced flavor.
  • For a vegetarian version, omit bacon and use plant-based alternatives.
  • Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
  • To thicken, remove the lid during the last 30 minutes of cooking.
  • Stir halfway through if possible for even flavor distribution.
