Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, this air fryer baked potato is a quick and reliable way to enjoy a classic comfort food without turning on the oven.

Ingredients

  • Russet Potatoes – high starch content makes them fluffy inside
  • Olive Oil – helps crisp the skin and adds flavor
  • Kosher Salt – enhances flavor and draws out moisture
  • Black Pepper – adds a subtle heat and depth
  • Optional Toppings – butter, cheese, sour cream, chives, or your favorite additions

Instructions

  1. Scrub and dry the russet potatoes thoroughly.
  2. Pierce each potato several times with a fork to allow steam to escape.
  3. Brush potatoes with olive oil, then season with kosher salt and black pepper.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  5. Place potatoes in the basket without overlapping, ensuring air circulation.
  6. Cook for 35–45 minutes, flipping once halfway through.
  7. Check for doneness by piercing with a knife—it should slide in easily.
  8. Let potatoes rest for 10 minutes before slicing open and adding toppings.

Notes

  • Use similar-sized potatoes for even cooking.
  • Ensure potatoes are fully dry before air frying to maximize crispiness.
  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket.
  • Reheat leftovers in the air fryer to restore the crispy texture.
